Useful Information

1. Minimum age:

a. 50cc: 18 years of age.

b. 125cc: 21 years of age.

2. Driving license:

The renter must be in possession of a valid driving license and valid under the laws of Spain. Cartrawler and Cooltra assume no responsibility for traffic violations or fines concerning the driving license.

3. Traffic rules:

By signing the contract, the renter declares that she/he knows how to drive a scooter, respects the national traffic rules and confirms that she/he is under no influence of alcohol or any kind of drugs. At the same time she/he assumes responsibility to pay all fines issued by the police derived from traffic violations.

4. Maintenance:

The renter agrees to personally bring the scooter for a revision to the Cooltra Shop when the scooter reaches the maximum number of kilometres indicated on the sticker inside the scooter`s seat. A non-compliance with this rule results in a fine of 100€.

5. Deposit:

A security deposit per scooter is needed. Just credit card is accepted. It will be refunded at the end of the rental.

Basic and Standard scooters: 150 Euro, Plus scooters: 300 Euro.

6. Contractual agreements:

a. Return: Unless documented on paper the renter agrees herewith to return the scooter to the Cooltra Shop. A non-compliance with this rule results in a fine of 50€.

b. Late return: A delay in returning the scooter results in a fine of 50€ plus the extra days of rent.

c. If the scooter is impounded due to driver’s fault, negligence or breach of local traffic norms (incl. parking violations), the renter must pay a fine of 50€ to cover the operational and administrative costs incurred for its retrieval aside from the fees of the incident.

d. No money will be refunded if the scooter is returned before the original return date stated in the contract.

e. Petrol tank: The scooter has to be filled up to the same petrol level as previously marked in the contract. If the scooter is not returned with same petrol level, Cooltra will charge 10€.

f. In case of traffic violations or fines, the renter is the only responsible to face and pay them. There is an administrative fee of 30€ for managing the traffic fines which will be charged on the credit card provided by the renter.

g. Loss of a key tag: Cooltra will charge a fee of 5€ in case of loss of key tag.

h. In case the renter does not return the scooter’s documents. Cooltra will charge a fee of 10€.

i. Cooltra will charge 15€ for each missing corporate sticker of the scooter and/or accessories, and 15€ for each extra sticker found on the scooter / accessories.

7. Incidents:

a. If the renter has an accident, he/she has to fill out the incident report form (blue form which can be found in the plastic folder inside the seat) together with the other party involved in the accident. The renter has to report the accident to an employee in the Cooltra Shop immediately.

b. If the scooter cannot be driven anymore, the renter renting in Spain has to call the road assistance Allianz under (+34) 917486772 (number can as well be found on the information sheet which is in the seat of the scooter). She/he accepts to wait for the tow truck, which will take the scooter to the Cooltra Shop. In case of an improper use of the road assistance service (loss of keys, loss of helmets, gas lock button, empty fuel tank, etc.), Cooltra will charge a 50€ fee.

8. Insurance:

The price of the rental includes obligatory liability insurance of the vehicle covering the damages to the third parties and passengers without franchise or maximum liability. Theft insurance, total or partial loss, damages (or any other prejudice) of proprietary vehicle (or of your luggage, goods or personal belongings transported in the vehicle), for any reason (either vandalism or traffic accident) or personal injury are not included.

9. Condition of the scooter:

The renter has checked the vehicle and understands its functions and that the scooter is functioning correctly: Ignition, brakes, lights (obligatory use 24h), indicators / blinkers, opening of the seat, kickstand and helmet (compulsory at all times). At the same time she / he confirms to have received all relevant documents in a plastic folder (registration documents of the scooter, information sheet, insurance certificate, incident form) and that the existing damages have been marked in the rental contract.

10. City limits:

The renter is not allowed to drive outside the city or on a highway/ motorway with a 50cc scooter.

Barcelona / Valencia / Granada: with the 125cc scooter the renter can travel out of town or on the motorway / highway within a 50km radius. For longer distances, the renter can purchase an additional insurance,

Madrid: with the 125cc scooter the renter cannot travel outside the radius of the M-50 highway. For longer distances, the renter can purchase an additional insurance.

These city limits do not apply for the Balearics.

11. Extras:

All Cooltra scooters go with one helmet, full-risk insurance with excess and roadside assistance. If you need more extra accessories or services, you can consult them in Cooltra shop at the beginning of your rental.

Extra helmet: 5€/day, Max. amount per rental 20€

Top case: 3€/day, Max. amount per rental 18€

Locks: 1€/day, Max. amount per rental 6€

GPS: 10€/day, Max. amount per rental 80€

WiFi: 11€/day, Max. amount per rental 272€

Excess reduction: 10€/day, Max. amount per rental 90€

Cancellation and no-show policy

What is your cancellation policy for fully prepaid or part-paid bookings?

1 - If you cancel 24 hours prior to your pick-up, you will be refunded in full.

2 - If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance of pick-up, you will receive a refund minus EUR50. If your online payment is less than EUR50, no refund will be made for your car hire booking.

3 - If your booking is made less than 24 hours before pick up, the cancellation policy will automatically apply to your booking.

4 - All cancellations should be made on our online portal and not with the car hire agent. Should you agree to cancel directly with the car hire agent on arrival, you must also inform us of this change to your booking.

5 - Amending your booking or cancelling optional extras may not be possible less than 24 hours before pick up.

If you purchased our Damage Refund Insurance product and have since decided to cancel your car rental booking, the Damage Refund Insurance will be cancelled automatically.

If you wish to amend or rearrange your booking, the Damage Refund Insurance will initially be cancelled. We will, however, automatically create a new policy for your new booking.

In both cases you will receive an email to confirm the cancellation at the email address you have provided during the online booking process.

Please be aware that if you cancel your insurance policy less than 24 hours before the start of your car hire agreement, no refund for insurance will be granted.

What is a no-show?

A 'no-show' occurs for the following reasons:

1 - You didn't inform us about your cancellation prior to your pick-up time.

2 - You failed to pick up the car at the arranged time and date.

3 - You failed to provide the documentation that's required to pick up the car.

4 - You failed to provide a credit card in the main driver's name with enough available funds on it.

In the event of any of the above, no refunds will be made to you.

The car hire company reserves the right to refuse a car if you fail to arrive on time with all necessary documentation and a credit card with enough available funds for the car's security deposit. In such a case, unless the car hire has been cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, you will not be entitled to a refund.
